Work started in August 2016 at Newall Green Farm, Wythenshawe, following 12 months of detailed local authority negotiations. This development is a 400-year old farm building with two large outbuildings.
It has been a fantastic scheme for us to develop and shows what can be achieved by a developer where the good of the tenants and the needs of the local authority are at the forefront of design.
Completed in October 2017, this development provides 22 beds of shared accommodation and 5 self-contained single occupancy apartments, providing supported living services for 27 individual tenants.
With history behind it, the farmhouse had suffered neglect and vandalism, so we are delighted it was restored to bring it back to life.
Having completely overhauled the site and renovated to the highest standard, this challenging refurbishment wasn’t easy and many of the original features have been restored, including the oak beams, flagstones and cobbled paviours.
Now occupied, care is provided by Zeno Care to all three buildings for people with complex needs within the autism spectrum. The nominations agreement is with the local authority for 25 years.
In an excellent location close to the M56 and M60 motorways, this site is an amazing project for Fairhome. With our partners, we have worked hard to save the building and recreate it into something new for the future. We are delighted to have worked well in partnership with Manchester City Council, Rowlinson Construction and Zeno Care to create wonderful ‘whole-life’ homes for the most vulnerable people in our society.
